I watched a movie this morning. Very interesting one, it’s called The Joneses. Starring David Duchovny and Demi Moore, directed and written by Derrick Borte. Here is the review of the movie by Publicist;
“The Joneses”, a social commentary on our consumerist society. Perfect couple Steve and Kate Jones, and their gorgeous teen-aged children Jenn and Mick, are the envy of their posh, suburban neighborhood filled with McMansions and all the trappings of the upper middle class. Kate is the ultimate trend setter – beautiful, sexy, dressed head-to-toe in designer labels. Steve is the admired successful businessman who has it all: a gorgeous wife, big house and an endless supply of high-tech toys. Jenn and Mick rule their new school as they embody all that is hip and trendy – cool clothes, fast cars and the latest gadgets. But as the neighbors try to keep up with the Joneses, none are prepared for the truth about this all- too perfect family.
The Joneses is just a fake family, created by a company (works in marketing) to sell products. So it’s like the living commercials in our neighbourhood! They are only a marketing unit; they got paid to eat, wear, and use products to show off, so their surroundings will use the same ones! Clever!
I really think that this movie reflects straightly to what is going on with the world right now. A consumerist sociaty. We love to shop. Spending more money than we actually have and buying more than we could possibly need. Beautiful packaging of commercials and celebrity’s “perfect” lifestyle really haunts us every minute of every day.
If we see celebrities using some spesific brands, we’ll use it too :mrgreen:. What we are forgetting is, celebrities are paid to use the brands and we ??! we pay the company that pays the celebs so they can afford paying them to use their brands!! How stupid is that?? 😆
The comsumerism lifestyle forces many people to live in the house they cannot afford, drive the car they cannot afford, buy the things they can live without, and pile-up stuff they never use. That is so ridiculous! 😯
Things does not buy happiness. Living among beautiful things while at the same time feeling worry because you cannot afford the debt is not equal to happiness. One of the key to happiness is living financially-worry-free. Am I right? 😉
Two thumbs up for the idea! The Joneses, nice drama, recommended 😀 Watch the trailer here!!
