A Dust In The Universe (A Personal Reflect of Tsunami in Japan)

If we would imagine how small we are..

We are 1 among 7,000,000,000,000 the approximate world population.
This earth is in the galaxy that needs 10 light years to cross, it is about 94,605,284,000,000,000 meters long. You will need 10,ooo years to cross our galaxy with the speed of light.
This galaxy is 1 among millions of other galaxies in the universe.
And this universe is like a ring in a desert compare to the kursy. And The kursy (footrest) compared to His arsh (throne) is like a ring in the desert.

Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wasallam said: “The universe compared to Allah’s kursy (footrest) is like a ring in a desert. And Allah’s kursy compared to His arsh (throne) is like a ring in a desert.” (Ibn Hibban, Ibn Abi Hatim)

Seriously it is beyond my imagination. I feel small already just by looking at the sky or the ocean (that even only parts of them). Allahu Akbar. Allah is the Greatest.

So today, when I saw the tsunami strike in Japan, I can’t help but cry. No matter how smart we are, no matter how pretty, no matter how rich, it is nothing. Nothing compare to Allah subhana wa taala. We have nothing to stand against Allah. 😥

To realize that we can’t stand the heat of the sun. We can’t stop the floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcano eruption, no one have the power to stop them. SubhanAllah. That is how small we are, how helpless we are compare to the power of Allah subhana wa taala.

And yet, we still negotiate our selfish ideas from our limited inteligence to Allah? We try to fit religion to suit our passion? I quote a line from a lecture I downloaded a while ago; you can’t worship God the way you want. Instead, you need to worship God the way God wants to be worshipped ~ (Abdur Raheem Green).

When we understand the concept that Allah subhana wa taala is our Creator  and Maintainer of the entire universe, when we are considering revelation to have come from Him, of what value is our opinion and intellect against His Wisdom?

And it is not ever for a faithful man or a faithful woman, when Allah and His Messenger have decided an affair that there is any choice for them in their affair, and who disobeys Allah and His Messenger, so he is indeed wandering far astray. [Al Ahzab : 36]

When we want to use a sophisticated cell-phone, let’s say an Iphone, and we want to make the most of it, we will read the manual carefully and obey the rules and guidance in it. Why? Because the manual is written by the factory that creates the Iphone! We have to trust the factory, instead of guessing and asking random people who even never heard of Iphone before. When an Iphone used in the way un-fit its manual, the Iphone will be ruined sooner or later.

That concept is also used by us to live in this world. If we want to live fully in this world, we can’t just do anything we want to do. We have our manual, The Qur’an, so we don’t have to experience trial and errors. Because we made mistakes. Philosophers, scientists, and famous people are all only human. They made mistakes. We can’t swallow all the things they say without referring to Qur’an. Because Qur’an is from Allah. And if muslims doesn’t live by the Qur’an, they will be ruined sonner or later.

O you, those who have faith, obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in authority among you. And if you dispute over a thing, then return it to Allah and the Messenger, if you have faith in Allah and the Last Day. That is better and more beautiful of interpretation. [An Nisa : 59]

May Allah make it easy for us to be a better person in Islam day by day. It is not important what people think about us, and their opinion towards us, they just don’t know. What matters the most is Allah’s opinion about us.

Pray for me, people

So true, sister- we live constantly with these reminders, if only we would heed them… before it’s too late!
The imam mentioned the situation in Japan in the Jum’aa khutba yeaterday, and encouraged us to make du’aa for the people there and help in any way we can. Because we shouldn’t only be concerned about the muslims, we should care about everyone who is suffering or in need of help.

indeed, because that’s what Rasulullah taught us..
we shouldn’t only care for muslims only in such condition..

    Assalam alaik sis Ria!

Subhan Allah Sis, my exact sentiments! When I was looking at the video footages of the earthquake + tsunami, I realised how helpless we are. We can’t even stop something of this magitude.. not even our latest technology! And true @ your last paragraph! Only Allah’s opinion matters!
