Smile + Alhamdulillah Theraphy

Me and a very close friend, a sister for Allah, are doing “Smile + Alhamdulillah Theraphy”. We invented the method 😳 . We didn’t say anything to the world because it was our new year resolution, so we didn’t know how it will go, we usually forgets our list 😀 . And it almost 3 months, alhamdulillah. We do this because Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wa salam smiled a lot. And after a serious chat with her we came to a conclusion that when we smile, no matter how awful our feelings inside, we will feel better. Alhamdulillah. SMILE is one of the easiest sunnah we can ever practise!

I don’t think I am fully succeeded 😳 (someone said success is a journey 😀 ) but when we strive to something better for the sake of Allah, Allah subhana wa taala Himself will help us along the way, inshaAllah. When you feel like complaining or angry, just smile and say ‘alhamdulillah’. We both feel the difference, alhamdulillah. For my sister, her husband said : “This theraphy is making me feel more comfortable at home” 😉 — She allowed me to say this in the blog 😀 —

Let me tell you my experience.

For my facebook friends, you will know that I reduced complaining on my statuses since few months ago, except for this one thing, the weather! I didn’t realize that I was complaining at all, actually. I was thinking that complaining means talking crazy and pointless for hours. So I still wrote the status like this : “My God! Super HOT weather!” or like this : “45 degress, the sun is having a jumbo sale”. 😀 Those were funny statuses, right 😀

And today it was hot, subhanAllah. I was really tense and I really planned to write about how hot it is. And I don’t know where it came from, my brain told me : It’s called complaining, too. SubhanAllah, I do believe that Allah is supporting me on this theraphy. And I didn’t make that status 😀

That’s why I’m sharing this with you now eventhough I am still not perfect. I still complain 😳 , but I think I am getting better 😀 Alhamdulillah — Hay, I am a woman, I have some days where I act crazy 😳 — . Just do our best and Allah subhana wa taala will surely help. Allah will help us to recognize the difference between joking and complaining 😀

Try, whenever something upsets you, just smile and say alhamdulillah. If it’s a problem to solve, our mind is clearer to find the solution when we are not complaining. Everything happens only by permission of Allah. And Allah knows best. Just smile!

“No misfortune occurs except by Allah’s permission. Whoever believes in Allah – He will guide his [or her] heart. Allah has knowledge of all things” [At-Taghabun : 11]

Some benefits of smiling I found here:

1. Smiling Makes us Attractive

We are drawn to people who smile. There is an attraction factor. We want to know a smiling person and figure out what is so good. Frowns, scowls and grimaces all push people away — but a smile draws them in. — Now I understand why I’m so lovable 😀 —

2. Smiling Changes our Mood

Next time you are feeling down, try putting on a smile. There’s a good chance you mood will change for the better. Smiling can trick the body into helping you change your mood.

3. Smiling is contagious

When someone is smiling they lighten up the room, change the moods of others, and make things happier. A smiling person brings happiness with them. Smile lots and you will draw people to you.

4. Smiling Relieves Stress

Stress can really show up in our faces. Smiling helps to prevent us from looking tired, worn down, and overwhelmed. When you are stressed, take time to put on a smile. The stress should be reduced and you’ll be better able to take action.

5. Smiling Boosts Your Immune System.

Smiling helps the immune system to work better. When you smile, immune function improves possibly because you are more relaxed. Prevent the flu and colds by smiling.

MashaAllah, Rasulullah salallahu alaihi wasalam was a very smart man So, wanna join us with this theraphy? Mail me and tell me how it goes!

Yes, apparently it’s true that if you smile, even if you don’t feel happy, you will become happier! I discovered this myself, mashallah. And it’s not about being fake, either, or deluding yourself- because alot of it is not so much about the outer circumstances of our lives but rather how we adjust or react to them. Remember the difference between the optimist and the pessimist? For the pessimist the glass is half empty, but for the optimist the glass is half full- and it’s THE SAME GLASS!
Life can be difficult, and especially for us muslimas here in western countries where we are in a (often hated) minority and people stare at us in our hijab and think we’re “terrorists”- so you know what? whenever I go out I walk around with a big smile on my face- I smile at everyone! It makes me feel good and confident, mashallah, and I hope it’s good daw’aa as well!

ma’shaAllah, this was a great post 🙂 We really should say alahmdillah more 😀 I remember one day I woke up and said “Alhamdillah, Allah created me so perfectly”..(instead of complaining about how I look). to my surprise, later on the day, a friend said to me “You look extra beautiful today”!! SubhanAllah. Alhamdillah 🙂

Mashaallah at your sister, too 🙂 May Allah bless her marriage 😀
